Suggesting that public events should be organised on a regular basis with change of locations so that the message about protecting rights of women and children covers maximum number of people, she also urged the womenfolk to remain alert and foil the devilish intentions of perpetrators.
As a guest of honour, Child Welfare Committee, Imphal East district chairperson K Pradipkumar opined that once the railway network covers Manipur incidents of human trafficking would be even more serious.
Expressing that making the young boys and girls aware about human trafficking and ways to effectively deal with such crimes would be helpful in preventing unwanted incidents, he said a number of victims of child trafficking have been rescued from various Indian cities since 2008 .
Informing that efforts are on to urge Karnataka State Government for ensuring safe return of 36 children of Manipur trafficked to Bangalore, Pradipkumar strongly mooted that setting up Government facility for safekeeping and rehabilitation of rescued child trafficking victims and understanding genesis of child trafficking would be effective in tackling the crime.
Pradipkumar also deliberated on 'Trafficking of women and girl child: Magnitude, issues of rescue, repatriation, restoration and rehabilitation' .
