Imphal, September 06 2024:
Manipur may witness a major political shift shortly amid the growing outrage against the State Government as the meeting of the Ministers and MLAs of the ruling party scheduled to be held tomorrow at CM's Secretariat (5 pm) is likely to discuss some key issues.
It is reported that these Ministers and MLAs may take a concrete resolution to decide the fate of the State Government in tomorrow's meeting.
An invitation has been sent to Secretary to CM N Geoffrey and Ministers and MLAs of the ruling party to attend the meeting which will be presided by Chief Minister N Biren Singh without fail.
It however is not known how many of these invitees will show up for the meeting as some Ministers and MLAs, according to what The Sangai Express has learnt, are frustrated over the inability of the State Government to take a concrete resolution pertaining to the crisis in Manipur all these months.
The major factor which is making a section of Ministers and MLAs reluctant to attend the meeting is over the failure to get an audience with the Prime Minister.
This group of BJP Ministers and MLAs want the Chief Minister to lead in mounting strong pressure on the Centre to resolve the crisis and take further course of actions based on the response of the Central leadership, even if it requires taking a harsh decision.
The Sangai Express has also learnt that some BJP MLAs have even considered resigning from the party in view of the growing outrage against the alleged inaction of the Government despite the attack on Meetei civilians getting intensified.
There is also a likelihood of keeping the State Government in an animated suspension if the crisis persists.
They believe that convening meetings after meetings would be meaningless if the legislators of the ruling party can't take a resolution to seek an audience with the Prime Minister and other Central leadership and mount pressure on them to end the conflict.
It is reported that a strong direction may have come from the Centre to the Biren led State Government to resolve the crisis in Manipur within a set period of time and tomorrow's meeting may have a link with this development.
It may be mentioned that the Centre had assured to restore normalcy in Manipur within the first 100 days of the third term of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the guaranteed period will complete on September 15 .
