Tight security steps taken up during rally

Stringent security measures were put in place during the mass rally for common future of Manipur jointly organised by UCM, AMUCO and CCSK.
A large number of police personnel of Imphal East and Imphal West districts were deployed on the entire route of the rally to prevent untoward incidents from THAU ground to Khuman Lampak main stadium.
Vehicles coming towards Imphal on different roads were diverted to other routes at different junctions by the police from early morning till afternoon to prevent possible obstructions to the rally.
Since early morning, police personnel including MPS officers, probationers and women personnel were seen deployed at THAU ground and on the entire route of the rally in Imphal East and Imphal West districts.
Police barricades were erected to prevent entry of rallyists into high security zones.
Riot control vehicles, water canons and fire tenders of Manipur Fire Service were also kept on stand-by at different junctions.
The mass rally was escorted by a large number of police personnel from THAU ground to Khuman Lampak main stadium.
It is said that reserved police personnel were also kept on standby.
On the other hand, CRPF took up additional security measures at the gate of Raj Bhavan.
No untoward incident was reported during the rally.
All the shops, business establishments, schools, colleges, banks and cinema halls remained closed in the State capital during the rally.
As per the appeal made by the organizing committee, many shopkeepers took part in the rally.
Women vendors also suspended their commercial activities to participate the rally.
