Athuan Abonmai murder case : 24 hr shutdown brings State to standstill

The 24 hour total shutdown called by the JAC Against the Brutal Murder of Athuan Abonmai disrupted normalcy in the State capital as well as in other districts and brought the State to a standstill.
Students and various CSOs staged sit-ins, raised slogans, and blocked roads in support of the shutdown called by the JAC to bring justice to Zeliangrong Baudi leader Athuan Abonmai who was abducted and murdered on September 22 last.
Bandh supporters took to the streets at Nagamapal, Khuyathong, Kongba road, Wangkhei Keithel, Thangmeiband, Sagolband and Uripok to block the road and raised slogans to bring justice to Athuan Abonmai.

Connectivity between Imphal and other districts were halted with inter-district bus services, inter-state goods service and other public transport put to a halt during the shutdown which started from the intervening night of October 3 and 4.Government offices including banks and post offices were also affected by the total shutdown.
Main markets at Imphal and other districts were also completely deserted due to the shutdown.
The impact of the total shutdown was also very subtle in Bishnupur district with main markets at Bishnupur, Nambol, Kwakta, Moirang and Kumbi donning a deserted look and all public transport including inter-village transports halted.
It may be mentioned that the probe into the murder of an influential Zeliangrong tribal leader Athuan Abonmai has been handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) by the MHA recently.
