Imphal, September 03 2014:
Pressing for the popular demand of enforcing Inner Line Permit System in Manipur, a protest demonstration cum public meeting was held today at Langthabal Lep Makha Leikai under the aegis of the Langthabal Lep Makha Leikai Nupi Marup, Social Reformation and Development Club Langthabal Lep Makha Leikai and Young Welfare Club Langthabal Mantrikhong Makha Leikai.
Speaking at the gathering, social activist Laiphrakpham Meghachandra said that there are many eminent and erudite senior citizens who can teach all the incumbent 60 MLAs of the State regarding statecraft and other public services.
He asserted that enforcement of ILPS in Manipur is indispensable for the survival of indigenous people.
As such, the Government need to act sincerely, keeping in mind the pulse of the mass.
Whereas a large number of youth are left without any employment avenue, immigrants have swarmed every economic sector of the State.
If the situation is not reversed at the earliest, all the indigenous people of Manipur would be wiped out from the surface of the planet sooner rather than later.
Silence and inaction of the Government on such crucial issue is a manifestation of the Government's total indifference to public welfare, Meghachandra said.
Representatives of the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System also took part in the protest demonstration cum public meeting and they elaborated on the necessity of a regulatory system like the ILPS.
