Imphal, August 03 2024: The Meitei Council Moreh (MCM) has asked the State Government and other authorities concerned to see that the SBI Moreh branch is not shifted away elsewhere.

Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here this afternoon, MCM advisor Ningthoukhongjam Pulindro said they have came across media reports of some Kukis saying that the SBI Moreh branch is not suitably located and it should be shifted towards their village.

The same media report mentioned Kuki women's objection to deployment of Manipur Police personnel around the bank.

The Kuki women even threatened to close the bank, according to the same media report.

Pulindro said that the SBI Moreh branch building was constructed at the present location after a meeting was held with denizens of Moreh and surrounding villages.

The meeting agreed to construct the building at its present location considering the security aspect as it is located just around 200 metres away from Moreh police station, the MCM advisor said.

He then asserted that the SBI Moreh branch should not be shifted away elsewhere just because some Kuki people demand are demanding so.
