Double digit spike recorded with 16

Manipur continues to witness a steady rise of new infections since the past few days as 16 people tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours and registered a single day positivity rate of 12.4 per cent.
This is the first time after more than 2 months that the State has registered a single day spike of new Covid cases in double digit.
With this figure, the number of active cases has increased to 43 .
Among the districts, Imphal West remained one of the most vulnerable districts as the maximum number of fresh Covid infections has been reported from the district since the past few days.
Since Wednesday (June 30) till today, Imphal West has reported 22 Covid cases which is 59.45 per cent of total cases (37) reported in the period.
The 16 fresh cases were confirmed at RIMS (1) and other testing centres (15) and they are residents of Imphal East (6), Imphal West (9), and Chandel (1) .
The single day positivity rate updated in the period was 12.7 per cent as 16 of the 126 samples sent for confirmation tested positive.
District wise, Imphal East registered the highest positivity rate at 24 per cent as 6 out of 25 samples tested positive and it is followed by Imphal West at 17 per cent (9 out of 53 samples tested positive) and Chandel at 16.7 per cent (1 out 6 samples tested positive) .
There is no change on the death count (2120 deaths so far) .
As per the Covid Common Control Room, the State has so far detected 1,37,297 Covid cases which include 5,014 CAPF personnel.
Four persons were discharged from Home Isolation today, following which the recovered cases have increased to 1,35,134 with a recovery rate of 98.42 per cent.
Despite the spike of fresh Covid active cases, only 1 Covid bed is being occupied at JNIMS while 60 remain vacant at JNIMS (13) and RIMS (47) .
Yesterday, the State administered 1030 Covid vaccine doses and distributed 88 D-type oxygen cylinders.
In terms of Covid vaccination, 61.97 of the total eligible population in the State had taken the first dose while 53.20 per cent had received the second.
