Even as the elderly man who sustained bullet injuries in the protest staged against the killing of Yanglem Naoba alias Bisheshwor, succumbed to his injuries today at Shija hospital today, fresh tension has gripped the district today, constraining the District Magistrate, T Ranjit Singh to impose prohibitory orders under 144 CrPC of the IPC in the whole of Thoubal district with immediate effect.
A formal order to this effect was issued today.
The prohibitory order was also issued in connection with the rising tension following the disappearance of a non-local man at Kakching.
The elderly man who succumbed to the injuries received yesterday has been identified as Huirongbam Manichandra Singh (58) of Thoubal Wangmataba Sorok.

Taking serious note of the blocking of NH-2 by the JAC formed in connection with the death of Yanglem Naoba alias Bisheswor, the District Magistrate has also instructed the SP of Thoubal police to provide protection and ensure free passage to vehicles moving along the said National Highway.
Refusing to retract from its stand, the JAC Against the Brutal Killing of Yanglem Naoba alias Bisheswor today continued with its demand that the killers be produced and fitting punishment be given.
The bodies of Naoba and Manichandra are yet to be claimed.
As in the past two days, since November 30, the JAC members today too blocked NH-2 by piling up cut trees, huge boulders and other obstacles on the road.
To pacify the JAC and the incensed people, Education Minister, M Okendra of Heirok AC, MLA of Khangabok AC MLA O Landhoni and MLA of Wangjing Tentha Paonam Brojen Singh, all falling within Thoubal district met representatives of the JAC today.
However since they could not meet the demand for a written consent on their demand, the JAC continued with its agitation.
