Imphal, December 01, 2012:
A new controversy over alleged appointment of additional nurses against the advertised post of 71 has erupted in RIMS.
A reliable source in the medical institute said that if the allegation of appointing more than 100 staff nurses whereas advertisement was made for only 71 nurses was true, the additional nurses are likely to face trouble.
Advertisement for appointment of 71 staff nurses was published on January 1, 2011.It did not mention anything about nurses' basic pay.
It only said that details could be obtained from employment exchange.
On March 8 this year, RIMS authority issued a notice informing that recruitment test for appointment of 71 staff nurses in RIMS would be conducted at DM College of Arts, Science and Commerce on April 1, 2012. Again, the recruitment test was conducted almost one hour after the schedule without giving any prior information.
Results of the written test were declared on April 7 and viva voce for the successful candidates held on April 20, 21, 22 and 23 both day and night.
Results of viva voce were declared on April 24. Though only 71 nurses should be appointed as per the advertisement, it was suspected that more than 100 nurses were appointed, said the source.
As per rules, basic pay of a staff nurse of RIMS should be Rs 12,500 but they are presently given Rs 9300.The nurses are given reduced basic pay to make up for the additional nurses as the Health Ministry sanctioned funds enough to pay only 71 nurses in sync with the notification issued by RIMS authority.
At an executive council meeting of RIMS chaired by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on August 22, the RIMS Director sought permission to fill up vacant posts of staff nurses from the panel list of the DPC held for recruitment of 71 staff nurses.
But the proposal was declined and the Director was advised to fill up the vacant posts after issuing new advertisement.
As such, if the decision of the executive council meeting should hold, the additional number of nurses may have to face DPC anew, added the source.
