Ukhrul, April 01 2021:
Personnel of 27 Assam Rifles rescued all the four abducted labourers safely from the NSCN (K) without resorting to violence.
All four innocent civilians were abducted last Saturday (25th of March) while working near the international border pillar no 128 and 129 by a group of armed NSCN (K) cadres.
Following the incident, Col Rippon Bora, Commandant of 27 Assam Rifles, Somsai Ukhrul rushed to the area and was stationed for four days at an Assam Rifles Outpost located in Tusom CV Village to monitor the situation.
Col Rippon handled the situation tactfully to avoid arm confrontation, thereby forming a team in collaboration with Jessami police and inviting leaders of New Tusom village and Council members of Somrah Khullen of Myanmar village to assist in negotiation talks with the militant organization for the safe release of the captive persons.
After four days of hectic and relentless dialogue, all the four captives-VS Thumlan (24) of New Tusom, NK Thanreimi (32) from Chingai village, RS Pamshang (47) and R Keinan (35) (both from Poi village) were rescued from NSCN (K) base camp at Kongkailong village in Myanmar.
VS Shangmayo, headman of New Tusom village, condemned the abduction and asserted that abducting innocent people for ransom must be stopped at once.
Meanwhile, R Keinan said that a group of persons armed with sophisticated weapons rounded them up and took them to Kongkailong village in Myanmar for ransom.
27 AR medical staff examined their health (the rescued individuals) and were handed over to their respective families.
The victim families expressed gratitude for the timely intervention of 27 AR and others involved in rescuing them.
