Union Home Minister Amit Shah has categorically stated that the BJP has eliminated the issues chronic in Manipur during the Congress tenure in just five years and urged all to support the saffron party so as to sustain peace and focus on development.
Addressing an election rally at Heirok Part-II Devi Mandop Ground today, the Union Home Minister continued that the Congress under the leadership of former Chief Minister Okram Ibobi didn't take up any developmental or welfare programmes during its tenure.
Saying that instances of bandh, blockade and distrust among the communities were also predominant during the Congress tenure, Amit Shah contended that BJP in the Centre and the State had eliminated all these problems including corruption and brought peace.
Amit Shah then appealed to the people of Thoubal and Kakching which will go to poll in the second phase on March 5 to support BJP candidates in all the 10 seats of the two districts.

Speaking about the agenda of the saffron party, Amit Shah stated that the BJP will establish AlIMS in Manipur if it retains power.
Saying that BJP has provided Ayushman Bharat cards which guarantee health insurance coverage worth up to Rs five lakh to nine lakh households and distributed Rs six thousand each to selected farmers under PM Kishan Kalyan Yojana every year, Amit Shah maintained that the State also didn't have any women police station before 2017 .
The BJP has completed preparation to establish women police stations in every district, he continued.
He also stated that the Jiribam,Tupul-Imphal railway line will also be completed soon.
Continuing that the Congress spent only Rs 21,000 crore in developmental projects while the BJP spent Rs 35,000 crore, the Union Home Minister stated that the saffron party has also introduced schemes such as Start-Up to empower the youth of Manipur and increase the coverage of tap water facilities.
The number of tourists visiting the State has been increasing since the BJP came to power, he added.
Claiming that the BJP has completed a 100 percent electrification mission in Manipur, Amit Shah continued that the BJP has also distributed cooking gas to 1.5 lakh households in Manipur and constructed 58,995 houses.
Stating that the Prime Minister highly respects the women of Manipur and as such appointed A Sharda Devi as BJP Manipur Pradesh president and constructed 10 Ima Keithels in different districts, Amit Shah stated that the National Sports University was brought to Manipur acknowledging the prowess of the State's athletes.
He continued that the BJP will also establish one Skill University in Manipur to provide employment opportunities to the talented youth of Manipur and construct a tribal museum each in all hill districts of Manipur.
As a token of respect to the freedom fighters of Manipur, the BJP renamed Mt Harriet at Andaman and Nicobar Islands as Mt Manipur, he said.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba, Works Minister Th Biswajit, BJP National spokesperson Sambit Pattra and BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda Devi also attended the programme among others.
