Imphal, February 01 2016:
The Naga People's Front (NPF), Manipur State unit has asked Okram Ibobi to step down from the post of Chief Minister.
Imphal West SP Dr AK Jhalajit should be suspended immediately, demanded the party in a press release issued by its president Awangbow Newmai.
NPF Manipur State unit is shocked to learn that Chief Minister O Ibobi and ex-DGP Y Joykumar were involved in the inhuman murder of Ch Sanjit and Th Rabina as revealed by Th Herojit, the prime accused in the cold blooded murder case in his confessional statement made before media.
The Ibobi-led Government used Government machinery and State force to harass and kill innocent people of the State.
It is high time to say enough is enough to the Congress misrule, it asserted.
The Central Government should take up necessary steps to restore rule of law in the State.
"The Deputy Chief Minister who also holds Home Portfolio should own responsibility for all the lawless action of State police instead of shamelessly saying security will be provided to Th Herojit if he so desires", NPF remarked.
Anything undesirable could happen if the suspended Head Constable of Manipur Police is under custody of Manipur Police.
Th Herojit should be kept under the safe custody of Central force until investigation into the case is completed and the truth behind the killing of Ch Sanjit and Th Rabina is established, it added.
