Imphal, November 30 2016:
Demanding immediate and unconditional release of UNC president Gaidon Kamei and information and publicity secretary Stephen Sankhui, the Naga Women's Union (NWU) in collaboration with Senapati District Women's Association (SDWA) and women bodies, organized a sit-in-protest at Senapati DHqs today, our correspondent reports.
The women association said the State Government's response to the people's protest is the murder of democracy.
They have called for urgent intervention from the Centre on the issue.

Speaking to media persons on the sideline of the protest, NWU president Tabitha said the arrest of the UNC leaders is condemnable and against the democratic rights of the people.
Instead of resolving the sensitive issue, the Government arrested the Naga leaders which is unfortunate and unacceptable.
Tabitha added that the Nagas are well determined to defend and protect its ancestral land at all cost.
The protesters held placards inscribed with slogans like, 'Listen to the voice of the people, police commando is not the solution', 'Respect the MoUs, respect democracy', 'Sowing hatred, reaping anarchy', 'Release UNC leaders immediately' etc.
The Naga Women Union, Chandel (NWUC) also staged a similar protest demonstration at DC Lamkhai Chandel today demanding immediate and unconditional release of UNC president Gaidon Kamei and information and publicity secretary SK Stephen, our correspondent reports.
The sit-in also demanded the withdrawal of all the charges slapped against the UNC leaders.
The NWUC said they will stage various forms of protests until the UNC leaders are released.
