JNIMS Dental College does not even have X-Rays machines; CMHT no use

JNIMS Dental College has no Root canal treatment facilities; OPG and RVG X-Ray advised to take at private clinic; scaling or filling of teeth charged Rs.200/- no matter the patient produced the state government ambitious CMHT card

The state government ambitious plan for opening a Dental College at JNIMS is likely to be in jeopardy with the Principal of the College Dr.Mutum Angou Singh runs the college at his will without listening to the complaints of the patients as well as some of the staffs including his higher authorities.

The College has no X-Ray machines for OPG (Orthopentogram) and RVG (Radio Video Graph).

Patients in need are advised by the dentist to take X-ray at private clinic.

It's now almost 3 month that the college did not have Root Canal Treatment which is the most important diagnostic part of dental problem.

Besides, patients were charge in inappropriate ways .

"I paid Rs.200/- for scaling and a receipt was provided to me, which seem to be printed by them", Rocky (name changed) said to this reporter today.

A staff of the hospital also inform him that it makes no difference when it comes to payment of the fee whether the person have CMHT card or not.

For filling of teeth, the charge is Rs.200/-.What is surprising it was that the fee gathered are not transferred through the proper channel, an employee of the JNIMS who do not want to disclose his identity said.

When Imphal Times tried to contact Dr.Bhimo, he could not be reached at the moment.

His PA also did not pick up call even though his phone was ringing.

The Jawaharlal Institute of Medical Sciences was established in 2015 and later in 2018 it has been upgraded as Dental College.

Members of the Dental Council of India had inspected the condition of the College two times and the third visit is expected in the coming days.

During the visit the members of the Dental Council of India had advice to install the required equipments and other infrastructures.

As per source with the Imphal Times, all the required infrastructures and equipments have been supplied and are being kept at store room.

However, for reason best known to the Principal the machines are not utilised till today.

It has been around 4 months that the machine have been supplied.
