Mao citizens, shopkeepers repair NH-2

Senapati, July 31 2016: In what can be termed as frantic measures to improve the pathetic road condition along National Highway 2 in Mao area, shopkeepers, social leaders and citizens of Mao Gate took up voluntary work to fill potholes and repair the deteriorating road on Saturday.

The initiative was organized by Mao Gate Business Union (MBU) in which 300 volunteers participated.

N Jacob, chairman of MBU said that the road has been left in a very bad shape for a long time now giving harrowing experience to the travelers.

The Mao Gate Business Union initiated the road repair, he stated.

A Athili secretary MBU also said that the union has also hired twenty labourers to lay stones.

Dumpers and Tata trucks were hired for the service.

MBU then appealed on behalf of the Mao citizens to the Manipur Government and department concerned to look into the pathetic road condition of NH- 2 which is also the lifeline of Manipur.
