Henry clarifies on qualification row

Imphal, February 28 2017:
INC candidate from Wangkhei AC Okram Henry has today clarified that he had stated his qualification as class XII in his affidavit for the ensuing State Assembly election as he could not complete his BA.
Speaking to mediapersons at his Mantripukhri residence, Henry said, "Some have alleged that during the filing of nomination paper in 2012 election, I had stated my qualification as BA and class XII in my affidavit for the ensuing State election.
It is my earnest appeal to those individual to stop spreading false propaganda against me" .

He further said, "Though I had studied BA in Punjab University, I could not continue my study after completing the first year.
To prevent any misunderstanding, I had stated XII standard in my affidavit this time" .
He added, "What is the use of spreading false propaganda? Politics is not only for academically qualified people.
What matters the most is the desire to work sincerely for the welfare of the people.
Nobody came up to complain regarding this during scrutiny.
Trying to woo voters by circulating unethical statements is totally uncalled for" .
Clarifying about the reported loan he had taken, Henry said, "I had taken the loan because I was financially unstable.
The loan was a mortgage loan so if I failed to repay the amount, all my properties would be seized.
Some people, without knowing my suffering, have made offensive statements against me which are surprising" .
However, people should be aware of the fact that those individuals trying to find 'baseless' faults in me are the ones who have foreseen their own downfall and therefore are attempting to destroy their opponents through micked means, Henry said.
