Imphal, January 31 2017:
Going all out against the BJP led NDA Government at New Delhi, Congress spokesperson and MLA Kh Joykisan said that the refusal of New Delhi to spell out the details of the Framework Agreement with the NSCN (IM) is nothing but cheating the people of Manipur.
Speaking to reporters at Congress Bhawan today, the MLA said that the highly secretive nature of the contents of the Framework Agreement has sown the seeds of suspicion in the minds of the people here.
Since a spokesperson of the State BJP has claimed that the Framework Agreement is just two lines, this means that the NSCN (IM) and the BJP are one and the same here, charged Joykisan.
It is more than clear that the Framework Agreement was worked out after due consultations between the State unit of the BJP and the NSCN (IM), he further charged.
Stating that there is a big difference between the Congress and the BJP, Joykisan said that while the Congress believes in basing its work on the truth, the BJP relies on hoodwinking and fooling the people.
Though the BJP had announced that it will not go together with the NPF in the election, it is more than clear that they have worked out some sort of an understanding in the hill areas, said the MLA and reminded all that the main agenda of NPF is to break up Manipur.
Citing an example to prove his contention, Joykisan said that in Tamenglong ADC, the chairman is from the NPF while the vice-chairman is from the BJP.
It is common knowledge that the NPF is the political front of the NSCN (IM), said Joykisan and added if the BJP says it is not linked with the NSCN (IM) then how does it explain its alliance with the NPF at Tamenglong ADC.
In their greed for power, the BJP has given the short shrift to the territorial integrity of Manipur, alleged the MLA.
Asking the people to be wary of the BJP, Joykisan asked the State BJP to let two leaders of the BJP from the hill districts declare that not an inch of Manipur's land will be given away when Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah arrive here for election campaigning.
If the State BJP is committed to protecting the territorial integrity of Manipur, then let it ask the Central BJP leaders to announce that the territory of Manipur will not be affected by any agreement with the NSCN (IM), challenged Joykisan.
The Congress MLA also urged the people to decide which party to entrust the task of protecting the territorial integrity of Manipur.
