Bishnupur, July 30 2018: Members of Kwatha Youth Association (KYA) protested against handing over of the association to an interim committee, while urging the Moirang AC MLA P Sharatchandra not to interfere with the functioning of the association.

The members of Kwatha Youth Association along with womenfolk of Kwatha held the protest in front of the association's office, reports our correspondent.

Speaking to media persons, founder secretary as well as advisor to the association, Md Abdul Matalif stated that KYA was set up under Registrar of Society in 1975 .

He said that the association has been functioning for many years with meagre finance to run the association at die starting but former local MLA M Prithviraj extended financial aid to the association through the MLA Local Area Development Fund and ex Minister Md Nasir also extended aid to the association.

Members of KYA condemns the sudden notice of taking over the association by an interim committee under the aegis of Moirang AC MLA P Sharatchandra.

KYA advisor alleged that several errors were found in the interim committee which were found through RTI.

He stated that the MLA should focus on taking up development projects for Kwatha instead of interfering in the functioning of KYA.
