Manipuri students in Assam support ILP movement

Responding to the ongoing movement for implementation of Inner Line Permit system in Manipur, All Assam Manipuri Students' Union (AAMSU), Central Committee, Assam has assured all possible support to the agitations being organised in the state.
This was stated by the AAMSU leaders during a press meet held at the office of Manipur Chronicle in Jiribam here today.
The press meet was participated by President Seram Herajit Singh and Gen.

While expressing strong condemnation over the incident of police harassment against the students who were agitating for implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP) in Manipur, Seram Herajit Singh demanded the government to immediately implement the ILP system in Manipur.

There is apprehension that indigenous people of Manipur would be displaced in their own land in the near future because of the uninterrupted onslaught of non-Manipuris into Manipur, Herajit asserted, while urging the government to acknowledge the impending situation.

of AAMSU, pointed out that as Manipur state lies on the international boundary, there is every possibility for illegal immigration of outsiders.
We need to take steps for prevention of such intrusion, he said.
Saying that AAMSU would never remain a silent spectator on the incidents happening in Manipur, Nilkanta assured possible support from the side of AAMSU to the movement for implementation of ILP in Manipur.
