Zeliangrong Baudi (ZB) Senapati Zone, Zeliangrong Student's Union (ZSU) Senapati Zone and Liangmai Naga Council submitted a joint memorandum to the Governor on May 26 to address the grievances on the matter of nomination of membership to the Autonomous Distric Council Senapati from amongst the unrepresented Liangmai community.
A press release issued by the general secretary of ZSU Senapati Zone stated that the Liangmai community has been settled in Senapati since time immemorial under the Autonomous District Council of Senapati with a population of more than 5000 (as per 2011 census) and claimed that the community cannot even exercise the rights to be elected and become a member so as to decide the future of the Liangmai community under the constitutional rights of the country.
It also mentioned Liangmai community has the democratic rights to appeal and claim for a nominee member to the office of the District Council Senapati.
