Committee condemns

The Joint Coordination Committee on Wildlife and Biodiversity (JCCWB) has condemned the village authority of Macheng Village, Imphal East for expelling Soyapam Vashi, his family and Nimmiwon Kashung from the village.
They were staying in Macheng Village on a rental house.
A press release issued by JCCWB claimed that they were expelled by an order of the Chairman of the village authority in connection with an incident of killing a dog namely Togo.
Nimmiwon Kashung is the owner of the dog that was killed by one local of Macheng Village with a single barrel gun.
Claiming that Soyapam Vashi and the owner of the dog approached Heingang Police Station for help, but the complaint was refused by the Officer In- Charge there, he added that no action has been taken up against the accused village authority till date.
The JCCWB will take up legal action against the village authority with the help of concerned authorities, said the committee.
