Imphal, June 27 2018: Society for Disabled Person Manipur in association with District Social Welfare Office Bishnupur, and Legal Aid Clinic Kumbi jointly observed Helen Keller Day on her 138th birth anniversary at Kumbi Bazar.

Helen Keller was born in 1880, in Tuscumbia, Alabama.

At 18 months, she developed a fever that left her deaf and blind.

With the help of her teacher, Anne Sullivan, Helen learned to use sign language and read braille.

MLA Kumbi AC S Bira Singh, Vice-Chairperson Kumbi Municipal Council W Bobbychand Luwang, ex-Chairperson M Bineshwor Singh, Associate Professor Kumbi College, Co-ordinator Legal Aid Clinic L Gopal Singh, Associate Professor Kumbi College, programme co-ordinator NSS Cell Kh Rameshwor Singh attended the function as presidium members.
