Imphal, August 26 2021:
With irregularities evident in the recruitment examination conducted for several posts in Manipur State Cooperative Bank (MSCB) Limited, questions are being raised regarding possibility of corruption and bribery in the bank.
According to a highly placed source and some documents, there are evidences of irregularities in the recruitment examination for multi-tasking staff, which was conducted on December 20 last year.
Evidences of mark tampering in the answer papers of some candidates, who provided the right answer, have also surfaced.
The matter came to light when a candidate, who could not clear the examination, filed an RTI application for checking his answer sheet.
The People's Chronicle also received a document, which purportedly shows an agreement made between a students' organisation and the board of management of the bank with the latter accepting that there were some mistakes in the evaluation process of answer scripts.
The agreement acknowledged some mistakes in the answer script evaluation of the written examination for MTS recruitment, and agreed to put in a mechanism to avoid such mistakes.
It also agreed that the bank would offer appointment to the candidate, whose answer script was erroneously evaluated and resulted in failing the examination.
The agreement also mentioned that MSCB shall not discriminate that particular candidate under any circumstances.
The source further said that the bank declared results of the written test for recruitment of deputy manager on July 9.Later on August 9, a notification was issued in which four more candidates were allowed to appear in the computer proficiency test while citing 'typological error' in the July 9 results.
Such irregularities in the recruitment examination raise the suspicion of possible corrupt practices in the recruitment process and many are expressing the need for a probe into the whole recruitment process.
