Imphal, May 26 2018:
The All Manipur Inter State Bus and Allied Transport Association has appealed to all transporters/drivers not to pick up any non local or non-Manipuri from other States without proper identification documents and has also warned to take up stringent actions if any individual is found neglecting the direction of the association.
Speaking to media persons at the office of the association, Longjam Bimol, general secretary, said that from time to time the bus association has taken up steps to prevent bringing in non local people without proper identity proofs along the National Highways.
Despite their hard efforts, some of the transport agencies often come into the limelight for bringing in non-Manipuris into the State without proper ID proofs and documents.
He appealed the drivers of the association not to repeat the same mistake and warned that if any of the drivers bring such non-locals into the State, the association will support any kind of actions taken up against the driver and the travel agency.
If any non-locals happen to board a bus or any passenger vehicle without proper documents or ID proof, the ticket counter or drivers or conductor should inform the association so that proper steps can be taken up at the earliest and prevent the passengers from boarding the vehicle at the bus stand itself.
He also said that the association has been supporting the demands for implementation of ILPS in the State since all this time and will continue to do so until ILPS or a similar Bill is been implemented in the State to safeguard the indigenous peoples.
