Assam Rifles provides humanitarian aid

Imphal, May 24 2018:
Commandant of 29 AR Col Sachin Jain, SM along with his QRT, on their way to visit Company Operating Base Henkoton May 9, came across a demanding situation on the road from Hollengjang to Henkot.
One Wahoi, a resident of New Songzang village working as a GREF laborer, had slipped into a 80 meter deep gorge along the road and the remaining workers were standing helpless to rescue the ill fated woman.
Commanding Officer QRT immediately formed a human chain and with available resources rescued the lady from the gorge.
Meanwhile, the Nursing Assistant gave her first aid on the spot and was instantly evacuated to nearest Company Operating Base where she was given timely treatment for her injuries by Medical Officer Asst Comdt N Manoj Singh.
After her treatment came back to normal, she was later referred to Imphal for further treatment.
The immediate reaction by Commanding Officer QRT and the medical team with limited resources was lauded by one and all who weer present on the day of the incident.
29 Assam Rifles is located at Joupi, Chandel district and remote, treacherous, unforgiving terrain, inclement weather are characteristics of the location.
This location is one of the remotest areas in Manipur and lacks basic amenities like hospital to treat the people.
