36th World TB (Tuberculosis) Day held at Thoubal

Thoubal, March 24 2017:
Like in other parts of the world, the 36th World Tuberculosis Day 2017 was observed at Basic School Kaleikhong Road, Lilong in Thoubal District today.
The observance was jointly organised by District Health Mission- Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme (RNTCP) Thoubal in collaboration with AXSHYA Project Thoubal.
The observance held under the theme ''Unite to End TB-Leave No One Behind'' was attended by CMO/ District Mission Director, DHS Thoubal Dr.N.Jayantakumar Singh as chief guest, MO in Charge of CHC Haoreibi Dr.Rakib Shah as president and Principal in charge Basic School Lilong Th.Swarshima as guests of honour.

In his keynote address, Dr.Ksh.Memcha Devi,District Nodal Officer, RNTCP Thoubal has said that the programme is organised to eradicate and eliminate TB from the world.
The theme of programme for this year is "Unite to End TB Leave No One Behind".
The main aim of the programme is to bring awareness to the public on the origin of the disease and it prevention, he said.
He further said that people can avoid such disease only through proper knowledge, balanced diet, regular exercise and avoiding consumption of intoxicants.
In connection with the event, Project Co-ordinator of AXSHYA Thoubal Mr.Oken Singh has a report on "Performance of AXSHYA Project.
As part of the function, a quiz competition on TB for students of schools in and around Chandel Lilong was held.
