Union appeals Govt not to remove mid day meal workers

All Manipur Mid-Day Meal Workers' Union has appealed to the State Government not to remove the Mid Day Meal cook/workers of Government schools.
A press release issue by secretary of the union stated that the Mid Day Meal worker have expressed apprehension that the Government could remove or scrap off some workers as part of the amalgamation of Government schools.
It continued that there are cooks/workers who have been in the same profession for the past 15 years and they are fearing that they would be removed from work.
The union maintained that the Mid Day Meal scheme was implemented in some school from 1995 and in primary schools from 2004 and in upper primary schools from 2008 .
The scheme is implemented in a total of 3493 schools till date covering 1.7 lakh children, it said while adding that over 7000 mid day meal workers are being utilised by the Government.
It appealed the State Government and the authorities concerned not to remove the workers in amalgamation of schools.
