PREPAK couple nabbed, arms seized

Imphal, November 23 2012: Imphal East Police Commandos apprehended two cadres of PREPAK, who are reportedly married couple during a combing operation in Sawombung under Lamlai Police Station on November 21 and recovered arms and ammunition from their possession.

The apprehended cadres along with the recovered arms and ammunitions were paraded before media person at the office of Imphal East SP here today.

The arrested cadres have been identified as Laishram ongbi Ranesheshwori and her husband L Iton of Yourbung Khunnou.

Briefing media persons, Imphal East SP, Kamei Angam Romanus informed that a team of Imphal East Commandos arrested Laishram ongbi Ranesheshwori of Yourbung Khunnou at 1 pm on November 21 and one .32 Pistol with magazine and two live rounds were recovered from her possession.

On the same day at about 1:10 pm, her husband who is also a PREPAK cadre was arrested and one AK-56 Rifle with magazine along with five rounds and a mobile handset were recovered from him.

On further interrogation, L Iton disclosed the hiding place of a number of AK Rifle parts and magazines of PLA and consequently the said arms and ammunitions were seized from the homestead garden of one W Ibomcha of Sawombung Thongkhong Makha Leikai, he added.

The recovered AK-Rifle parts and arms and ammunition include 8 receiver covers, 7 rotating bolts, 7 Piston grooves, six Receiver cover Studs, 7 Gas Cylinders, 12 Returning Springs, six Cleaning Rods, 5 AK magazines, 4 Kenwood Wireless sets, one and a half kilograms of explosives and 80 rounds of AK ammunition.
