Imphal, May 23 2020: Transporters and Drivers Council (TDC) has appealed all to extend cooperation to the truckers who are engaged in essential services and ferrying returnees to the State amidst the lockdown due to COVID-19.Citing reports that drivers/handymen are facing immense problems and hardship in performing their duties, TDC president H Ranjit said many of them are unfortunately facing verbal and physical attacks on them, the passengers and vehicles on National Highways.

There have been instances of stone pelting on the vehicles recently, he said adding such attacks on them are condemnable when they are engaged in ferrying essential goods and stranded people.

Lauding the drivers for their dedication and services, he said each vehicle will be given a 20 litre water jar to ease shortage/lack of drinking water on road.
