MU hosts Youth Parliamentary Festival 2025

Imphal, March 23 2025:
Manipur University (MU), on Saturday, organised the Viksit Bharat District-Level Youth Parliamentary Festival 2025 at its Court Hall.
According to a statement, the function was attended by MU vice chancellor professor N Lokendra Singh, NYK, Imphal West deputy director Dr Salam Danachandra Singh and retired IPS officer Sarangthem Manaobi (Khoiranthaba) as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
In all 71 persons representing Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Thoubal and Kakching districts participated in the festival.

Addressing the participants, Festival coordinator Dr Laishram Santosh Singh stressed the importance of youth engagement in democratic processes, while Sarangthem Manaobi encouraged the youth to view the festival as an opportunity to showcase their talents, skills, and leadership qualities, and contribute their mite for prog-ress of the nation.
Prof N Lokendra Singh also spoke about the pivotal role of youth in nation-building and highlighted the evolution of the National Youth Parliament Festival since its inception in 2019.He said that the festival was not just about presenting ideas, but for spurring movement to influence the public and encourage policy discourse.
The event also featured a parliamentary session, where participants expressed their views on various issues.
The statement informed that with the conclusion of the district-level round, the winning participants would take part in the State-Level Round scheduled for March 26, at the Manipur Legislative Assembly.
The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has appointed five nodal institutions in the state to organise district-level rounds of the festival.
Institutes including Don Bosco, Maram; St Joseph's College, Ukhrul; South East Manipur College, Chandel College; and Jodanang Memorial College also organised similar events.
