Edu minister assures to resolve UGC pay issue: AMCTA

All Manipur College Teachers' Association (AMCTA) has stated that education minister S Rajen Singh has assured of resolving the issue of implementation of 7th UGC pay for college teachers by forwarding the clarification to the query of accountant general (AG) Manipur at the earliest.
In a release, AMCTA general secretary Dr M Imocha Singh informed that AMCTA members met the minister on Monday in the presence of commissioner (Higher Education).
Earlier in the day, an emergency meeting of AMCTA Executive Committee deliberated on the resolutions taken during the extended Executive Committee meeting held at Oriental College on November 20, it added.
AMCTA mentioned that resolutions included demanding the government to issue a clarification letter/order to the query raised by AG Manipur by December 10, so that the AG can make 7th pay slip available for the college teachers before Christmas, to remind the government to notify placement/promotion of college teachers under Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) and hold the same for all eligible teachers.
The meeting also resolved to urge the government to give placement/promote at least 10 per cent of eligible associate professor to professor.
The meeting also agreed to extend solidarity to the Punjab University and college teachers who are planning a court arrest in front of Chief Minister's Office, Punjab demanding implementation of 7th UGC Pay on Tuesday under All India Federation of University & College Teachers' Organisation (AIFUCTO) by wearing black badges, it said.
