Imphal, July 22 2014:
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, who is also the Home Minister, informed the State Assembly that Delhi Police have arrested three persons involved in the killing of a youth from Senapati district identified as Salouni, who was beaten to death in South Delhi's Mubarakpur by a group of people coming in a Maruti car in the wee hours of July 21 and that investigation into the case is going on.
Responding to queries raised by MLA K Shyam during zero hour of the Assembly session today, Gaikhangam said that communication is being established with the Delhi Police regarding the case and assured that the government will follow the case closely to ensure that justice is delivered to the family of the deceased.
The Deputy CM further said that the government had held meeting with representatives of hawkers' association in connection with the arrest of a hawker by Assam Rifles who was later handed over to Lilong police.
During the zero hour, MLA K Shyam observed that Delhi has now become an unsafe place for people of Manipur and other northeastern States as violence and crime against them have been been taking place every now and then.
This, he said, is a matter of serious concern.
Saying that the government should intervene into such case promptly, the MLA asserted that a delegation of Ministers and MLAs should be sent to Delhi to inquire into the killing of Salouni who was mercilessly beaten to death by a group of people.
