Biker hit by ambulance dies

Imphal, June 22 2021: In an unfortunate incident, a biker lost his life after being hit by an ambulance at Kwakeithel on Tuesday evening.

The deceased biker has been identified as Thokchom Bishembor (53) son of Mani of Sagolband Tera Tongbram Leikai.

According to police, an ambulance (winger) coming from Bishnupur side towards Kwakeithel hit a man who came riding a Honda Splendor (MN 1J-1105) from Khagempalli towards Kwakeithel Thiyam Leikai on Tuesday around 4pm .

The biker was admitted to RIMS hospital but succumbed to injuries around 7 pm .

The involved ambulance belongs to Bishnupur district hospital.

A suo moto case has been taken up in this regard by Imphal police station and the body kept at RIMS morgue for post mortem.

Meanwhile, Manipur Police Department Covid nodal officer IGP (ops) E Priyokumar has informed that 274 people who violated curfew were detained and a total of Rs 1,02,300 collected as fine from them on Tuesday.
