Imphal, August 21 2021:
The state government has extended the state-wide night curfew for another 15 days, while allowing many more activities as part of unlocking process which will come into effect from August 23 till September 6 .
In an order issued Saturday, State Executive Committee chairman and chief secretary Dr Rajesh Kumar stated that the decision was taken considering the declining number of Covid-19 positive cases detected per day, albeit slowly, while the hardships of the people due to continuous closure of many establishments have increased.
The order said that the night curfew from 6 pm to 5 am will be strictly enforced in entire state with no social gathering or feasts permitted, while activities allowed in previous orders will continue.
Some newer activities that have been permitted are opening of opticians from 10 am to 2 pm; all standalone shops like shops selling construction material, hardware, electrical items, cement, stationery, etc, located outside Paona and Thangal Bazar from 7 am to 2 pm, while shopping malls will remain closed; opening of local vegetable vendors from 7 am to 2 pm for purchase by locals on all days, albeit the vendors must be seated at a distance of 6 feet in spaces marked by district administration and must wear mask all the time; local grocery shops will be allowed to open from 7 am to 2 pm and shops selling fish, poultry and poultry products from 8 am to 2 pm.
Shops selling milk and fresh milk products can remain open every day from 6 am to 9 am, it added.
The order further allowed activities such as private security services, food processing units including manufacturing units in industrial estates, mineral water manufacturing and distribution and opening of vehicle showrooms and servicing centres from 8 am to 2 pm.
Barring Sunday and shops in gullies/by-lanes between buildings, shops in Thangal and Paona Bazar will be allowed to open from 8 am to 2 pm under roster system, the order further mentioned.
