Imphal, December 20 2011:
Asserting that Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh did not issue any denial on the controversial Supra-state body proposal during the public meeting held at Kangla on December 3, United Committee Manipur (UCM) and All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) have demanded an official white paper denying existence of such a proposal and assuring territorial integrity of Manipur.
In a joint statement, President of UCM Yumnamcha Dilipkumar and President of AMUCO KT Rahman pointed out that far from making any denial, Dr Manmohan Singh did not even mention Supra-state body proposal in his address at all.
What he had mentioned briefly was Supra National Authority, a proposal that would enhance International polity and the reiteration that there has been no change in the position of the government of India towards safeguarding the territorial integrity of Manipur.
Moreover, UCM and AMUCO could never trust the earlier denial of Union Home Minister P Chidambaram, who had been challenged and left speechless by Seven Sisters Post along with documentary evidences.
What the people of Manipur want is an official white paper denying any discussion on Supra-state body proposal and to protect the territorial integrity of Manipur.
The ongoing winter session of Manipur State Assembly should also pass a resolution to the effect of safeguarding the territorial integrity of Manipur and oppose any move to such Supra-state body proposal and forward the same resolution to the central government to press for an official document, the joint statement said.
Coming out strongly against some UG groups which are trying to break apart Manipur after they entered peace talks with government of India and became its agent, the joint statement observed that these UG groups should understand that resolution of conflict through peace talks with India, which itself is relying on military might for administration appears bleak.
The joint statement also cautioned the people against politicians who are making false promise over the issues of territorial integrity, AFSPA, IPL, etc with an eye on the upcoming election.
