Ukhrul, September 20 2012: A huge consignment of contraband beers were destroyed on Thursday by a joint team of Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS), Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long (TMNL) and Tangkhul Shanao Long (TSL).

The consignment was seized from three women.

In this connection, TKS Quick Response Team convenor Lungshim Kasar said the seizure was made on Wednesday night at around 8pm from Dungrei Junction from a Scorpio vehicle ( MNO3P 0790) and the contraband beers were being smuggled in by three women.

They were identified as MS Ayao from Choithar village, K Rose from Ramva village and AS Kahaola from Ringui village.

On Thursday morning, the seized items numbering 396 cans were destroyed in front of the TKS office at Hamleikhong in full public view.

The joint team of Tangkhul frontal bodies has reiterated their stand to intensify anti-alcohol campaign in Ukhrul district.

They rued that free inflow of alcohol has affected the society in more ways than one.
