Imphal, July 20 2022:
Lamlai MLA Kh Ibomcha, who has been appointed as the chairman of Manipur Handloom and Handicrafts Corporation Ltd, has stated that he will stand against imitation of the state's eyong products, which are manufactured outside the state and brought into Manipur for sale.
The Corporation on Wednesday felicitated newly appointed chairman Kh Ibomcha at its Governor Road office here.
Speaking on the occasion,
Kh Ibomcha assured that as weaving has been an important source of livelihood for the people of Manipur after agriculture, no efforts would be spared to develop the handloom and handicraft sector of the state.
While observing that he has been assigned the job by CM N Biren with a purpose, he also maintained that import of imitated Eyong clothes into the state is an attack on the weavers of Manipur and cautioned that suitable action would be initiated to foil any attempt to undermine the indigenous products.
If this is unsuccessful, then a competition will be encouraged between our original Eyong
products and the imitated, fake products from outside in the market, he added.
