Govt to spend ₹56 crore on housing CAPFs

Imphal, June 20 2024: Consequent to the decision of deploying additional central security forces in the state adopted in a recent security meeting chaired by union home minister Amit Shah, locations to deploy 50 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) have been identified.

Moreover, the government would be spending Rs 56 crore in constructing pre-fabricated accommodation for the 50 companies of CAPF.

According to a document detailing general abstract cost for the construction project, the infrastructure with prefabricated materials for accommodation of 50 companies of CAPF include SM barracks with commander's room, kitchen cum dining hall, toilet block & bath, and internal electrical installation in each location.

The estimated cost is calculated at around Rs 1.1 crore for each accommodation totalling Rs 56,07,98,047 .

Manipur Police Housing Corporation would oversee the infrastructure project.

CAPF companies will be deployed in Gwaltabi, Keithelmanbi outpost, Chanung (near UNACCO School), Leitanpokpi Sadu Lampak, Nungshum Awang Leikai, & Dolaithabi in Imphal East; Keithelmanbi DAV Resort, Kadangband Part-II, Kangchup Chingkhong, Phayeng Ching Leikai, Koutruk, Senjam Chirang, Khongnangpokpi, Kanglatongbi Shantipur, and Sekmai River bank opposite to Luwangshanggol, Phailen village in Imphal West district.

One company each will be posted at Pallel PS campus, Khongnang Phe-isabi village, Sugnu Mamang Leikai paddy held, Serou Ningthem Hiden, and Serou Awang Leikai in Kakching district; Nongpok Sekmai PS & Heirok in Thoubal district; Tangjeng Chingya Lampak, Gamol, Uyungmakhong, Thumkhonglok sericulture farm, Waroiching VDF outpost, Leingangtabi VDF outpost, & Torbung Area Development Committee ground in Bishnupur district; and Chotobekra, & Borobekrain Jiribam district.

In the hill districts, the CAPF companies will be posted at Machi PS, Moreh ADC complex, & Saivom (11th IRB land) in Tengnoupal; Saikul PS, Bethel near Kakchung PS, Kharam Vaiphei & Gamphigai in Kangpokpi; Joujangtek & Rengpang police outpost in Noney; Kaimai & Old Kaiphundai in Tamenglong; Maram Khunnou & Taphou in Senapati; Reserve Line DHQ-CCP, Sangaikot PS, Singhat PS, Behiang PS, & Tuibong area in Churachandpur; and Litan PS in Ukhrul district.
