Imphal, March 01 2012:
Taking exception to the Nagaland's Pradesh Congress Committee's (NPCC) statement over the issue of Naga Integration being subjected to NPF's poor performance in the just concluded 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly, 2012 Election, the NPO expressed "disapproval and resentment" against the statement.
In a statement, President of NPO ML Markson contended that irrespective of groups or parties, the NPO appeals for maturity and understanding in expressing sensitive issues like Naga integration rather than falling low at the alter of politics and communalism.
"Let election and struggle for electoral power come and go, but the struggle for oneness and unity of the Nagas cannot perish in such scenario," the statement said.
Stating that the NPCC's statements cannot sooth or heal the struggles of the Nagas in Manipur which is undergoing a repressive and communalised treatment, the NPO charged that the NPCC in its efforts to gain electoral power and politics cannot meddle over the issue of Naga Integration movement by plainly blaming its rival NPF result in the Manipur Assembly election as the integration issue is much beyond the political rivalry of any political parties.
The movement for physical and emotional integration since these long years to fulfill a single nation and administration has been the aspirations of the Nagas.
Creating the integration issue as a bullet to hit rivals just to gain political mileage will only distant the Nagas from NPCC, it asserted.
The NPO further wishes and appealed all concerned groups and parties to exercise maximum patience and tolerance rather than flexing muscles in public media.
