Will try to restore normalcy in state: PK Singh

Newly appointed chief secretary Prashant Kumar Singh (IAS), also known as PK Singh, has assured that he would try his level best to restore normalcy in Manipur.
In an exclusive interview with The People's Chronicle at his office chamber in Old Secretariat on Monday, CS PK Singh expressed his elation on being deputed to Manipur again.
Having been posted in the state for around 17 years previously, he said that he is well-versed about its culture and future.
Lamenting over the violence prevailing in the state for almost two years, PK Singh assured of his level best efforts to restore normalcy in the state at the earliest, while maintaining an impartial stand all along the way.

He also acknowledged Manipur as a powerhouse of sports, culture and with much hospitality potentials; and remarked that the people of this state just like everyone else do not want conflicts.
"Everyone is suffering due to the present conflict and I'm grateful for the opportunity to come to the state and work to solve the conflict," he said, while seeking support and good wishes from all concerned.
Emphasising that the role of media, the CS urged the media to handle all news sensitively and verify the authenticity before publishing or broadcasting the same without sensationalising them.
He mentioned instances of the media receiving reports even before it reaches the government.
Both the media and the government need to work together from time to time for new's verification purposes, he stated.
Prashant Kumar continued that in view of t he current situation, the people need to work together to improve the same so as to restore peace and normalcy.
Mention may be m ade here that Prashant Kumar Singh, a 1993 IAS batch cadre, headed various departments of Manipur government, and went on to take charge as the secretary of Ministry of New and Renewable Energy till recently.
He was appointed as the chief secretary of Manipur on January 11 .
