Imphal, November 19 2021:
Calling it utterly baseless and callous, Progressive Youth Forum (PYF), Noney district has refuted the statement of Nungba Kendra Citizen Forum (NKCF) published in some state dailies on November 17 against a peaceful bike rally conducted on November 12 and a series of accusations levelled against intending BJP candidate from Nungba assembly constituency Gaidon Kamei.
In a release, PYF stated that the bike rally was organised to usher in love, peace and understanding and raise political awareness among various groups in the region during the time of elections.
It was never intended to hurt or demean anyone.
Against such noble initiatives, the rally was interrupted by few individuals whose motive solely was to disrupt and incite violence.
It's ridiculous how the story was twisted to mislead the people.
Why would there be a need for vandalism and abuses if they say the rally was organised without their knowledge? There is a clear ulterior motive instigated by someone very obviously to disrupt the rally and create misunderstandings and hatred, it alleged.
PYF claimed that co-incidentally, the past track records show, these are the sarne individuals who are responsible for several other poll related violence in the past.
NKCF has stooped to another level lower by levelling false accusations and insulting United Naga Council (UNC) former president and intending candidate of BJP from Nungba AC Gaidon Kamei.
The insult meted out by a group of vested individuals to a leader, who once represented and stood for the Naga political and social issues at different national and international forum is nothing but an insult to all the Nagas living far and wide, it asserted.
PYF stressed that every form of agitation, public protest, political correction, meeting and discourse organised under his leadership was done at the behest of Nagas and therefore would be very incorrect to credit or discredit him alone as such.
Regardless of the differences or political interests, one should always remember to respect and maintain maximum veneration for each other while sharing opinions in a public platform.
Whether, one likes it or not Gaidon Kamei is a figure very unique to the Rongmei community and is an invaluable asset to the people of Manipur and deserves people's utmost respect, it maintained.
PYF further urged NKCF to tender an unconditional apology and refrain from any actions that could incite violence and misunderstandings among the people.
