Senapati, September 19 2022:
United Naga Council (UNC) has welcomed the signing of 'September Joint Accordant' in the presence of Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) between NSCN-IM represented by general (retired) VS Atem and Working Group of NNPGs represented by coordinator Alezo Venuh on September 14 .
The two parties agreed to honour the Covenant of Reconciliation (CoR) of June 13, 2009 signed by late Isak Chishi Swu, late SS Khaplang and brigadier (retired) S Singnya in letter and spirit, to work together in the spirit of love, to guard against all rifts that could divide Nagas and to refrain from all forms of rhetoric, assumptions and agendas that are divisive.
UNC appreciated the leaderships of NSCN-IM and Working Group of NNPGs for taking the bold steps in the interest of Naga people as one nation, one people.
"With this, we hope with confidence that the light of the day will soon be seen," UNC added.
UNC also expressed its deep appreciation to Forum for Naga Recon ciliation that made it possible today and also since its inception under the able leadership of Dr Wati Aier and his team particularly for their ceaseless and tireless efforts till today.
"Therefore, UNC seriously appeals to both the political groups to be more honest to their words and commitments in the interest of the Naga people.
It is high time on their part to rethink that our own internal differences have hunted all of us down to this lowest ebb of our political position and we are all responsible for whatever the outcome it is today," UNC said.
UNC also appealed to Naga public to be more prudent.
