Imphal, June 19 2025: Representatives of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) formed against the killing of Chesam Abdul Kadir along with Wangoi MLA Kh Loken Singh met with Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Raj Bhavan on Thursday afternoon.

Chesam Abdul Kadir, a differently-abled person from Paobitek Mayai Leikai, had gone missing on the night of June 10 .

His body was found buried on the banks of Nambul River in Samurou Makha Leikai.

Speaking to the media after meeting the Governor, JAC co-convenor Muhibur Rahman informed that the JAC submitted a charter of demands to the Governor, urging immediate and transparent legal action in the case, including apprehending the mastermind and all other culprits involved in the murder.

The JAC also conveyed that if the government fails to arrest the main culprits of the case and take legal action within 24 hours, no more talks would be held and Kadir's body would not be claimed.

Muhibur continued that further democratic protests would be launched if the government fails to address the JAC's demands.

He then refuted the claims made by an outfit on electronic and other media on Wednesday evening, alleging that Kadir was involved in motorcycle theft.

"Kadir was a differently-abled person," he said, and sought a public clarification from the outfit regarding the basis of the allegations.

MLA Kh Loken also spoke to the newspersons, conveying that the Governor is committed to ensuring justice is served and has assured to arrest all the culprits involved in the case, including the main accused, Khaba within three days.

Loken then said that the incident has triggered emotion and communal strings between the two communities, which is extremely unfortunate.

As such, he appealed to all concerned to help prevent a repeat of such incident in the future.
