Three arrested in poll violence case

Imphal, April 19 2024:
Police arrested three persons in connection with a firing incident at a polling station at Moirangkampu Primary School, in which one person was injured.
According to an official statement of police common control room, the arrested persons have been identified as Leichombam Jemson (34), Nongthombam Ratan (47) and Khumukcham Angamba (32).Police also recovered one .32 pistol with eight rounds, one car, three mobile phones and Rs 1.5 lakh cash from their possession.
Meanwhile, Assam Rifles launched a search operation and recovered one Ak-47 rifle, two local-made mortars and warlike stores during a search operation conducted in an area between Halpi and Saiphai, in Chandel district based on specific intelligence about presence of arms and ammunition.
The recovered items were handed over to Manipur Police.
