Workshop on Earthquake Resistant Concrete Construction begins

A three-day workshop on Earthquake Resistant Concrete Construction began today at the seminar hall of the Institute of Engineers (India), Manipur State Centre, today.
The inaugural function of the workshop which is being organized by Institute of Engineers (India), Manipur State Centre under the sponsorship of Sana Sang-gai Wangkhei Yonglan Leirak was attended by Chief Engineer of PWD Kh Temba Singh; Chairman of the organising institute, Th Joykumar Singh and former Chairman N Shyamsundar Singh as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
At the event, convenor of AMIE, H Linthoinganbi said that the rate of building structures in the State having earthquake resistance properties is considerably low.
The convenor also said that consulting architect and structural engineer and conducting a soil test before constructing a house is also important.
The workshop is being organised to upscale the dexterity of local construction workers, Linthoinganbi added.
