The Assam Rifles nabbed three NSCN-IM cadres along with small arms and ammunitions yesterday near Piphema along National Highway 39 in Nagaland.
Assam Rifles sources revealed that based on specific information about the movement of armed cadres a Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) was established by column of 42 Assam Rifles on NH 39 near Piphema yesterday morning.
A suspiciously moving Maruti Gypsy bearing (AS 01 Z 7054) was intercepted and on being checked three NSCN-IM cadres were nabbed along with two 9mm pistols and 18 live rounds.
However, on production of identity card 'PRO' Akho Angami and his bodyguard 'ss corporal' Khi with one 9mm pistol and nine live rounds were released in accordance with laid down ceasefire ground rules by Government of India which allows an identity card holder to move with a bodyguard along with a weapon in concealed manner.
But, 'SS corporal' John apprehended with one 9mm pistol and nine rounds was later handed over to Medziphema Police Station.
