Mahila Morcha accused of politicising Nupi Lai

Imphal, December 18 2021: While charging BJP Mahila Morcha of politicising Nupi Lal and trying to mislead the people on the historic incident, Nupi Lal Observation Committee and Joint Students Coordinating Committee have demanded the women's wing of the saffron party to tender public apology within five days and cautioned of launching different forms of agitation in case of failing to do so.

Addressing a press meet at Wahengbam Leikai here on Saturday, Observation Committee advisor Leirik Leima said that they welcome BJP Mahila Morcha organising the Niipi Lai observance in different locations.

However, the Morcha put up BJP flags and used photos of their party leaders in the observance, which is an act of politicising the observance and misrepresentation of the historic women's uprising.

In the past, several political parties and organisations organised the observance but nobody tried to politicise and misrepresent the incident.

The Observation Committee, which is formed by different organisations, mainly Meira Paibi groups, decry such acts and demand public apology from BJP Manila Morcha within five days, failing which, they will launch different forms of agitation, she said.
