Hybrid plant for 24/7 power supply

Imphal, October 18 2012: Fed-up with power cuts every now and then even though you pay your electric bills regularly? If the answer is yes, you can very well switch on to 'Wind-Solar Hybrid System' which ensures uninterrupted power supply round the clock.

This has been tried, tested and proved successful by one Haisnam Ratan of Singjamei Thokchom Leikai.

Haisnam Ratan, who is the authorized dealer of Unitron Energy System Private Limited, a company based in Pune, has been living comfortably using all electrically operated appliances at his home without caring a bit about the amount of electric bill that would come up to, thanks to his 'Wind-Solar Hybrid System' .

In a tete-a-tete with Hueiyen Lanpao, Haisnam Ratan informed that he has been using this 'Wind-Solar Hybrid System' for the last three years.

The technology is produced by the Pune-based Unitron Energy System Private Limited, of which he is presently the only authorized dealer in the state.

Ratan explained that the Wind-Solar Hybrid System installed at his house can produce 1000 watt of power.

The power is being generated by the solar panels and wind mills are stored in a set of 24 volt, 600 ampere-hour batteries.

A control panel is used for tapping the solar power through the solar panels and charging the battery during the day when there is sunlight.

At night, the batteries are charged from the energy produced by the wind mill towers.

Thus, he enjoys 24-hour uninterrupted power supply in his home.

"I have proved that wind mills can produce power in Imphal, which otherwise was believed to be impossible", Ratan said, adding the wind mills installed on the top of his house can rotate at the speed of 2.2 metres/second, which enables the battery to get charged easily.

He further informed that the Wind Power Hybrid System installed in his home cost him only Rs 3.5 lakhs.

The state government is trying to extend the technology to the general public at a very low cost.

By that time, the people of the state would also be able to enjoy uninterrupted power supply round the clock.

Ratan exclaims "Now I don't care whether the government provides me sufficient power or not, I am quite satisfied with the system I have got which ensures me 24 hours uninterrupted power supply without any maintenance fee for the last three years" .
