CADA observes foundation day

Coalition against Drug and Alcohol (CADA) observed its 9th foundation day on Friday at Lamyanba Sanglen, Palace Compound here.
Speaking during the function as chief guest, Commerce and Industries Minister Govindas Konthoujam said that plenty of wine is found in the State despite the ban imposed by Manipur Government.
Red wines or foreign liquors are found in large quantities in each and every canteen supply divisions in the State and this has astonished visitors as Manipur is a dry State, said the minister.
He added that different types of illegal drugs have been regularly smuggling into Manipur through National Highways and airways.
Govindas further said that the smuggled illicit drugs are often seized by the social organizations and police.
Manipur is known as the 'power house' of India in the field of sports, said Govindas and added that the title of 'power house' is seemed to be tarnishing by the drug smuggling.
The minister also called upon all to give their best efforts on eradicating drugs to save the future generations and praised the role taken by CADA against drug abuse in the Manipuri society.
CADA president advocate Y Ratankumar attended the function as president while Reader LM Law College Dr Ch Narendra, Churachandpur District Hospital Psychiatrist Dr N Gyaneshore and MB College Assistant Professor Dr Mohen were also present during the function.
Meanwhile, CADA Jiribam District Committee also observed the CADA foundation day at the head office of Jiri Ima Meira Paibi Apunba Lup (JIMPAL) .
