Loitam Richard murder case: Student bodies lambast forensic report

The forensic report over the death of Loitam Richard which ruled murder or culpable homicide but suggested that it might be a probable death due to hereditary disease of the heart is baseless and has no significance at all, exclaimed the six student organizations of Manipur.
Addressing media persons at the head office of AMSU in the premises of DM College today, the leaders of the six students' organizations namely AMSU, DESAM, MSF, KSA, SUK and SWAK asserted that instead of trying to find out the truth behind the incident, Bangalore police employing delaying tactics.
They pointed out that it has already been mentioned in the FIR lodged that Loitam Richard had a quarrel with some of the seniors in his hostel on that fateful.

Following pressure and agitation, Bangalore police was compelled to take up the incident as a case of murder and detained the suspects.
However, no case has been filed against the suspected persons and no interrogations have been initiated.
The Central government, the Manipur State government or the Karnataka government too have not taken up the desired steps so far.
It was just in namesake that the Government of Manipur sent an SP to Karnataka to investigate into the incident.
The student leaders demanded a CBI probe into the case, since there is no hope that the Bangalore police would be able to bring justice to Richard.
Meanwhile, the students of CC Higher Secondary School, Ram Lal Paul Higher Secondary School and Lamlong Higher Secondary School staged a sit-in-protest in their respective schools and torched the effigies of Chief Minister O Ibobi, Home Minister Gaikhangam and Union Home Minister P Chidambaram decrying brutal killing of L Richard and O Laaba.
A memorandum was also submitted to the Chief Minister and Governor of Manipur by the Lilong Manipuri Students Union demanding justice for Richard and Dana Sangma.
